The Oilfield Bookstore

petroleum Engineering and Geology Books

Looking for oil and gas industry books? Petroleum engineering  or geology textbooks? Here you'll find  everything from rare oilfield technical manuals to well logging books, driller's reference books, books on pipeline  and offshore engineering,  oil production,  petroleum engineering books, oilfield history,  field geology guides and more. A Primer Of Oilwell Drilling, Edition 7, by Paul M. Bommer is the industry's #1 leading guidebook.  The Nontechnical Guide to Petroleum Geology, Exploration, Drilling and Production is an excellent book  and I highly recommend it for those new to the oilfield and old hands as well. It covers a broad range of subjects yet is very in depth.  The Non Technical Guide series, including Oil and Gas Production in Non Technical Language, are a great resource, even for professionals.    . If you are looking for oil and gas drilling history books you will find "History of Oil Well Drilling" well  worth the money.  Paul Carter's "Don't tell Mom I Work On The Rigs..." is as funny to read as the full title of the book suggests. It is a good gift for that oilfield person in your life. Even if they have heard their share of tall tales before they will be amused by the ones in his book. If there are any petroleum engineering books or geology books you don't see, check back since I update the listings bi-weekly.      If you plan on leasing your property for oil and gas exploration it may pay, quite literally, to read "Secrets You Must Know About Mineral Rights".          All Time Top Sellers:

Thanks for visiting our site!

We hope you find what you are looking for in this selection of  oil and gas industry, petroleum engineering and geology books.  We regularly update it and try to delete any ones that are out of stock but occasionally an oil and gas industry book may be sold out and the link still exists here. Often if you check the used section you will find good quality copies for the fraction of the cost of the book new. This is especially true with the technical books that may have been used one semester by an  petroleum engineering student and then put up for sale. I want you to save money and keep coming back to this site, not just sell you oilfield books at any price, so be sure and check out the used ones for sale as well. A Primer of Oilwell Drilling is  an excellent book and is often hard to find new but used copies are always coming up here. It is an excellent book for those new to the industry and a good gift to someone going to the oilfield for the first time.

Books for oil and gas professionals, geoscientists, students and those interested in the industry.

Even if you are not in the oil and gas business you will find some good reading here. Never before in the history of man has one product had such a massive impact on our lives. As it becomes more scarce the impact of that scarcity will be felt at all levels of society.  There is much talk about the subject of Peak Oil recently and you will find books about Peak Oil here as well. Arm yourself with knowledge about offshore and arctic drilling with  objectively written books about both subjects.

My personal view of the  "Peak Oil" situation is that there is an incredible amount of oil still remaining on the planet but that getting to it is now becoming so expensive  that much of it will never be recovered. The "cheap" oil of Saudi Arabia is running out. Read Matt Simmon's "Twilight in The Desert", an exhaustively researched book by an industry expert and adviser to presidents. He describes the efforts of the Saudi Royal Family to hide the truth about the Saudi oilfield's great decline as well as other fields around the world that are in serious trouble, such as Mexico's Cantarell which is depleting at an alarming rate. You will find a good section of books in the oilfield bookstore dedicated to Hubberts Peak or "Peak Oil".

For those considering a career in the petroleum industry the Nontechnical Guide Series are an excellent value to get you up to speed. For books useful to mudlogging and petroleum geology search the technical oilfield book section.

Please check back with the Oilfield Bookstore for new additions. We will soon  be expanding the book sections with one specifically for drilling technology books and books about offshore oil exploration.
